Masonwood Development Breaks Ground on Master-Planned Community Five Days After Closing $79 Million Financing from Trez Capital 

Development spans 540 acres, marking Masonwood’s First San Antonio Project  

SAN ANTONIO – November 13, 2025 – Today, executives from Masonwood Development — a Central Texas–based real estate and land development company — joined city officials and development partners to celebrate the groundbreaking of Viera, a 540-acre master-planned community featuring 472 acres of residential development in San Antonio. Masonwood started construction just five days after closing a $79 million transaction with Trez Capital, marking a major milestone as the company’s inaugural development in this market.

This was only possible through seamless coordination between our team including Trez Capital, Medina County, MTR Engineering, and four reputable builders: David Weekley, Chesmar Homes, Scott Felder Homes, and Brightland Homes.”

 Located half a mile west of CR381 and Potranco Rd., Viera will deliver over 1,000 curated homesites, each positioned to maximize the natural topography and Texas Hill Country views that define this Medina County property. The community’s design centers on creating a distinctive neighborhood, offering diverse architectural styles with centrally located amenities that include a lifestyle pool, outdoor kitchen and pavilion, interconnected trails, and gathering spaces designed to foster connection.

Viera occupies one of the premier development sites in West San Antonio’s growth corridor. The community’s location provides unparalleled access to the Loop 1604 expansion project, as well as the recently approved Alamo Ranch Parkway expansion, which are aimed at reducing commute times for residents.  

Viera falls within the boundaries of Medina Valley Independent School District (MVISD). With a new high school under construction, a new middle school recently completed, and two additional elementary schools funded through the May 2024 bond, MVISD is proactively investing in educational resources ahead of the West San Antonio growth curve. 

Phase I will bring 281 homesites/lots. Builders will be ready to begin model home and production of homes for sale in the fourth quarter of 2026.
